Record 14 National Television Games Highlight La Salle Schedule

Explorers to appear on ESPN five times
PHILADELPHIA – A school record 14 national television appearances highlight the 2013-14 La Salle men’s basketball schedule, which was completed today with the announcement of the Atlantic 10 slate by the conference office.
The Explorers will appear on the ESPN family of networks five times, CBS Sports Network five times and NBC Sports Network four times. Additional television opportunities will be announced when they are available.
“Our 2013-14 schedule provides many challenges and opportunities,” head coach Dr. John Giannini said. “The national exposure our program will receive is important for many reasons. Personally, I am eager for basketball fans around the country to see the incredible enthusiasm of our students and the exciting atmosphere of a packed Gola Arena.”
“The Atlantic 10 is proud to be partnered with three of the largest and best media companies in the world; ESPN, CBS Sports Network and NBCSN who will distribute our games and programming to millions of households across the country, allowing our alumni and fans the opportunity to watch A-10 games on across multiple national platforms,” stated A-10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. “The leagues’ strategic focus on our foundation as a nationally relevant ‘basketball centric’ conference has delivered a formidable media package, showcasing the best of our institutions, programs, coaches and student athletes.”
In addition to previously announced ESPN exposure on the Tip-Off Marathon (November 12 vs. Quinnipiac) and GameDay (January 18 vs. Temple), the Explorers will host A-10 contenders VCU and Saint Louis on either ESPN or ESPN2. VCU will visit Tom Gola Arena on Saturday, January 25 at noon in a game that will appear on ESPN or ESPN2. Two weeks later on Saturday, February 8, Saint Louis will come to Gola Arena for a 5 PM tip-off on ESPN2.
A home game at Gola Arena versus rival Saint Joseph’s on Saturday, February 15 will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
The Atlantic 10 season will begin on January 9 with a home game versus George Washington followed by a trip to Duquesne on January 12. Both games will be televised nationally on NBCSN.
The Explorers will then host Rhode Island on January 15 before the much anticipated visit from ESPN GameDay versus Temple at the Palestra. On January 22, La Salle will visit St. Bonaventure for a 9 PM game on CBS Sports Network.
After hosting VCU, the Blue and Gold travel to George Washington on January 29. Next up is a home game versus Duquesne, followed by a CBS Sports Network game at Massachusetts on February 5.
Following home contests versus Saint Louis and Saint Joseph’s is a two-game road trip to Dayton (February 19) and Richmond (February 22), with both games televised on the CBS Sports Network. February wraps up with a home game versus St. Bonaventure on the 26th.
March opens with a NBC Sports Network game at Fordham on Saturday, March 1. George Mason will come to Gola Arena on Thursday, March 6 for the final NBCSN game of the season.
The finale will be a game versus Saint Joseph’s at Hagan Arena on Sunday, March 9 on CBS Sports Network.
All 13 teams will advance to the 2014 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. There will be an opening round game Wednesday, March 12. First round games will be played Thursday, March 13.
The winners of those four games will advance to the quarterfinal round, which will be produced by NBCSN on Friday, March 14. Semifinal games will be played on CBS Sports Network on Saturday, March 15 and the finals on NCAA Selection Sunday, March 16 at 1:00 p.m., which will air live on CBS Sports.
