GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP NJ--On 8-22-2013, at approximately 07:00 P.M. the Gloucester Township Police Department received several calls reporting a house fire on Annapolis Drive, which is located in the Wye Oak development in Gloucester Township. Arriving officers and fire personnel observed a heavy fire condition in the garage area which had spread to the attic area as well as a heavy smoke condition throughout the residence.
The homeowner, who was not home at the time, met emergency personnel in front of the residence and advised that there were no occupants inside the residence. Fire personnel from the Erial, Lambs Terrace, Pine Hill and Winslow Fire Departments, as well as the Cherry Hill Fire Department's Rehab 13, quickly went into service and brought the fire under control after approximately 45 minutes.
The investigation into the cause of the blaze was conducted by the Camden County Fire Marshals Office and the Gloucester Township Police Department and it was determined that a rag, left too close to a running generator within the garage, caught fire and ignited other combustible material that was nearby.
