Keynote Address by Cato Institute Senior Fellow Dan Mitchell followed by Discussion on Common Core Educational Standards!
AFP Foundation invites you to join us for our 4th Annual Friedman Legacy Day Reception, sponsored by The Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice, to be held on Wednesday, July 31 at the Fiesta in Wood-Ridge, NJ! Click here to register now!
AFP Foundation is proud to carry on our tradition of celebrating the life of one of the greatest champions of Economic Freedom –Nobel Laureate Milton Friedman– on the date of what would have been his 101st birthday!Over the past several years, AFP Foundation-New Jersey has honored the Nobel Laureate with our special Friedman Legacy Day Reception featuring some of the liberty movement’s most prominent economic and public policy experts, among them:
Stephen Moore, editorial board member and senior economics writer at The Wall Street Journal
Veronique de Rugy, senior research fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University
Michael Cannon, Cato Institute's director of health policy studies
And our 2013 event will be no exception, as AFP Foundation is excited to announce that this year’s keynote address will be delivered by one of the best economic thinkers and free-market advocates of the day, Dan Mitchell, senior fellow at the Cato Institute! Dan is also a former senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation, a staunch advocate of the flat tax and supply-side tax policy and a frequent guest on the cable news outlets. Dan’s blog, International Liberty, is an indispensable resource for proponents of economic freedom and limited government. AFP Foundation is thrilled to have Dan with us and guarantees you will not want to miss his address on economic liberty!
A Discussion of Common Core!
AFP Foundation is also pleased to include an important discussion on education and Common Coreas part of this year’s reception!
Dr. Friedman and his wife Rose were leading advocates of choice and competition in education. As early as 1955, Dr. Friedman proposed vouchers as the best possible way to raise the quality of schooling in America. In 1996, the Friedmans established the Milton and Rose D. Friedman Foundation (now the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice) to promote parental school choice.
Without question, the Friedmans would share the concerns of many parents and citizens regarding the impact of Common Core educational standards. And AFP Foundation would be remiss in not including a discussion of this very important and controversial topic at this year’s reception!
Just another reason this year’s reception promises to be our best yet! Please do not hesitate as seats are limited for this special event!
