OLEAN, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure used two eighth inning runs to knock off the La Salle baseball team, 7-5, on Rp_primary_welling Saturday afternoon at Fred Handler Park. Sophomore Kevin Conroy(3-4, RBI, 2 runs) paced the Explorer offense and sophomore Ryan Welling notched a 2-3 line with a run and RBI.

Conroy jump started the La Salle in the first, depositing a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall for a 1-0 lead. Junior George Smith, Jr. (1-3, RBI) doubled home Welling in the second, who worked a two-out walk to keep the inning alive. Two more Explorers touched home in the third on sophomore Justin Korenblatt's (1-5, 2 RBI) fifth triple of the season to open up a 4-0 lead.

Not to be turned away on their senior day, the Bonnies (18-25, 8-13) began chipping at the lead in the bottom of the third and proceeded to score one run in each of the next five innings. La Salle starter Shane Hollman was charged with three earned runs on five hits in 5.1 innings of work.

Down 5-4 entering the eighth, the Blue and Gold (23-24, 15-6) pushed a run across to tie the ballgame on Welling RBI single. Welling plated pinch runner Bobby Schuman on an 0-1 pitch to lock the score at five apiece.

St. Bonaventure kept its foot on the gas in the eighth, getting two more on a Joel Rosencrance double. Junior Dominic Sgroi surrendered two runs (one earned) in the inning and was attributed his second loss of the season.

The home team outhit the Explorers 11-9 in the contest and did not commit a fielding error after registering five in Saturday's doubleheader.  

La Salle will travel to Rider on Tuesday for a non-conference tilt before traveling to George Washington for its A-10 series finale over the weekend.
