(CNBNEWS.NET)Gloucester High School senior captains along with the other senior players lead the 2013 Lion’s by example. The Lion’s Varsity Baseball team returned 7 starters from this seasons 6 -11 squad Commentary for the 2014 campaign,  but the leadership of the outgoing 2013 seniors will be reflected next season through their dedication and commitment to the program.

Captain Thomas O’Donnell a three year varsity starter has not missed an inning behind the plate this season. O’Donnell has been a stellar performer helping the young pitchers with his defense and handling the pitches. The captain leads the Lions in many categories, (No. 1) in 15- runs batted in, (No. 1) in 12- base on balls and (No. 2) in .340 team batting ave.  Along with O’Donnell is captain - Albie Carracino who roams centerfielder and directs the other young outfielders. Carracino leads the team with a .358 team batting ave. and five stolen bases and (No. 2) in 12 runs batted in.

Third year varsity senior pitcher Steven Bobo (2 – 3) produces on both sides of the diamond. Bobo (No.2) in 22 innings pitched and (No. 2) in 22 strike outs carries a bat that has made Bobo fourth with a .323 team batting average while being unselfish at plate walking seven times. Both Bobo and fellow senior Robbie Cordero (No.6) (.294 batting average) have helped fellow seniors show the youngster what dedication means in a team sport.

These young men realize that the teams 6 – 11 record does not reflect the true value of the team. Already under new head coach Greg Galbraith the Lions record has improved over the 2013 campaign. The current Lions have lost nine games by two or fewer runs.  These seniors are building a foundation for the future. There work ethic and dedication by these men has not gone unnoticed and will be passed on the 2014 group of seniors. The best does not always jump out but the subliminal message is written in the dirt on their sleeves, “You can’t coach experience”
