PRINCETON, N.J. - Continuing her record-breaking rookie campaign, freshman standout Dannah Hayward (Wilkes Barre, Pa,/James M. Coughlin) once again broke her own school record in the 400H to lead the women's track and field team at the ECAC Outdoor Championships this weekend. The Hawks competed at Princeton University's Weaver Stadium from May 10-12.
Hayward ran a 1:00.11 in the preliminaries to post the second-fastest performance in her heat before taking a seventh-place finish in the finals (1:01.55) to earn the Hawks' only two points on the weekend. With her new personal-record time of 1:00.11, the freshman took more than an entire second off of her previous PR (1:01.25) in the event, which she ran at the Penn Relays back on April 25.
The 4x400m relay team of juniors Mercedes Yanora (Wilkes Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer), Jaclyn Kogut (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett Square), sophomore Marina Rufo (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor), and juniorKatie Pratt (Beaverton, Ore./Aloha) posted SJU's second fastest performance of the season in 3:52.71 for 24th place.
Junior Erin James (Somerset, N.J./Immaculata) represented Saint Joseph's in the 3000m steeplechase and took 15th in 10:50.20. At the conclusion of her junior campaign, James holds the team's fastest times on the season in both the 3000m steeplechase (10:38.93) and 5000m (17:31.41).
The meet concludes Saint Joseph's 2013 outdoor track and field season.
