Mount Laurel PD Investigating a MVA involving a Bicyclist | cnbnews.net

PRESS RELEASE

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: The Mount Laurel Township Police Department is investigating a
motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist. The incident occurred near the intersection of Magnifying_glass Larchmont Boulevard and Hainesport Road at 7:45 AM on Saturday, May 18.

The bicyclist, identified as William McDonald, age 30, of Tallowood Drive, Medford, was travelling south on Larchmont Boulevard approaching the intersection with Hainesport Road when he was struck by a vehicle also travelling southbound. McDonald was transported to Cooper Hospital by Mount Laurel Emergency Services in critical condition.

The vehicle was operated by Natasha Wesley, age 44 of the 300 block of Carleton Lane.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation by the Mount Laurel Police Department Traffic Bureau.

 

IN OTHER MATTERS, 

 

THEFT: An employee of the YMCA on Centerton Road reported the theft of an unattended lap top computer. The incident occurred on May 17, between 11:25 AM and 11:35 AM. The computer is valued at $1,000.00.

ARREST (POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR UNLAWFUL PURPOSE): Mount Laurel Police arrested Steven J. Whelan, age 30, of the unit block of Eddlewood Place, on May 17 for possessing a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was charged with possessing a weapon, specifically a BB pistol, for an unlawful purpose, and criminal mischief to a vehicle. He was served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing. Officer L. Hann was the arresting officer. 

BURGLARY: Mount Laurel Police responded to an alarm activation on the unit block of Cambridge Drive. Upon arrival police observed the rear window to the residence had been forced. The incident occurred on May 17, at 9:56 PM. Jewelry, valued at an undetermined amount, was taken. Damage is estimated at $50.00.

ASSAULT: A guest of the Knights Inn on Route 73 reported an assault. The incident occurred at 5:04 AM on May 18. An unidentified male subject punched the victim in the face and then left the scene. 

STOLEN VEHICLE: A resident of the 700 block of Country Club Parkway reported a stolen vehicle. The incident occurred between 11:30 PM May 17 and 3:00 AM May 18. An unlocked 2001 Honda Civic, valued at $2,500.00, was taken. 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: A resident of the 700 block of Cypress Point Circle reported a criminal mischief to a vehicle. The incident occurred between 5:30 PM, May 17, and 9:44 AM, May 18. A vehicle window was broken. Damage is estimated at $200.00. 

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: An employee of Angelo’s II pizza on Masonville Road reported a theft from a vehicle. The incident occurred on May 18 at 7:30 PM. Two smartphones, valued at $1,500.00 were taken. The unlocked vehicle was parked behind the restaurant.

THEFT: A resident of the 1500 block of Hainesport Road reported the theft of a cellular phone while left unattended during a yard sale. The incident occurred on May 18, between 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM. The phone was valued at $200.00.

THEFT: A resident of the 100 block of Chaucer Road reported the theft of a temporary Pennsylvania license plate. The incident occurred between 11:30 PM May 18, and 2:00 AM May 19. The vehicle was parked in the driveway.

ARREST (HINDERING): Mount Laurel Police arrested Dennis W. Daily, age 20, of the 100 block of Winthrop Avenue, Moorestown, on May 19 for hindering and resisting arrest. He was served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing. Sergeant T. Howell was the arresting officer. 

BURGLARY: An employee of the Grace Bible Church on South Church Street reported a burglary, theft, and criminal mischief to a church. The incident occurred between 5:00 PM May 18 and 12:22 PM May 19. Entry was gained by unknown means. A laptop computer, valued at $500.00, was taken. A window, valued at $1,000.00, was also broken. 

ARREST (DEFIANT TRESPASS): Mount Laurel Police arrested Philip A. Reed, age 38, of the 1200 block of Cooper Street, Edgewater Park, and Shelby E. Nielsen, age 28, of Green Street, Edgewater Park, on May 19 for defiant trespass at the Don Pablo’s on Nixon Drive. They were both served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing. Corporal T. Shinn and Officer A. Haines were the arresting officers.
