LaSalle Baseball Blanked By Delaware, 4-0, In Series Opener

NEWARK, Del. – The Explorer offense was shut down by three Blue Hen pitchers on Friday afternoon, mustering up six hits without a run in a 4-0 defeat. La Salle tallied six hits on the afternoon while the Blue Hens pumped out seven to go along with eight free passes. Senior Ryan Donohue (3-4) took the loss for the Explorers, surrendering four runs (three earned) over five innings. Delaware's Chad Kuhl won his eighth game of the season, tossing seven scoreless innings while striking out four.
Delaware plated a run in the first and another in the third to open up a 2-0 lead. The Blue Hens added two more in the fifth, one of the unearned variety, to lead 4-0, which turned out to be the final.
The Explorers had their fair share of chances on the afternoon, tallying 10 baserunners via hit or walk. They left two runners stranded in the second and fourth innings and never managed to capitalize with men in scoring position.
Sophomore Kevin Conroy stroked two hits on the afternoon while four others notched one hit. Junior George Smith, Jr. and freshman Collin McGowan each worked two walks on the day.
The Blue Hens and Explorers meet again tomorrow afternoon in Newark at 1 p.m
