APRIL 9, 2013 CAMDEN, N.J. The Camden Riversharks have announced the signing of six players, including former Phillies’ draft pick Chris Duffy and major leaguer Brian Bass.

The Camden Riversharks continued filling out their roster in advance of the 2013 season with the signing of Chris Duffy, Brian Bass, Erik Hamren, Adrian Martin, Ronald Uviedo and Juan Martinez.

Drafted out of the University of Central Florida in 2010 by the Philadelphia Phillies, Chris Duffy spent three seasons playing first base in the Phillies organization. Hitting an impressive .384 average for the Single-A Lakewood Blue Claws in 2012, Duffy has averaged .304 at the plate over his three years of professional service.

Pitcher Brian Bass returns to professional baseball after playing in the Major Leagues from 2008 to 2010. Bass, a sixth-round draft pick by the Kansas City Royals in 2000, spent three seasons playing for the Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Along with Bass, the Riversharks signed pitchers Erik Hamren, Ronald Uviedo and Adrian Martin. Hamren appeared in a relief role for the San Diego Padres in 2011 while Uviedo played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Toronto Blue Jays organizations since 2005. Martin returns to Camden after playing for the team in 2012.

Juan Martinez returns to Camden after spending time in the infield for the team in 2012. Martinez began his career in 2009 in the San Francisco Giants organization and played for the York Revolution in 2011. He recorded a respectable .952 fielding percentage in his four seasons of professional baseball.

“Riversharks fans will be delighted to see some familiar names on their team this summer,” said Adam Lorber, the General Manager of the Riversharks. “An accomplished pitcher like Brian Bass and a well-known, solid batter like Chris Duffy are going to bring a lot of excitement to Campbell’s Field this year.”
