Rutgers Announces 2013 Football Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 6, 2013) – The BIG EAST Conference and Rutgers University announced the 2013 football schedule Wednesday. The schedule features two Thursday ESPN primetime appearances and seven games at High Point Solutions Stadium in 2013.

The second year of the Kyle Flood era begins on the road as the Scarlet Knights open the season Thursday, August 29 at Fresno State. It will be Rutgers’ first game in the state of California since 1999 at California.

Following the trip out west, Rutgers returns home for three straight games in the month of September. The Scarlet Knights home opener is set for Saturday, September 7 vs. Norfolk State at High Point Solutions Stadium.

Eastern Michigan visits High Point Solutions Stadium for the first time on Saturday, September 14 before Arkansas comes to Piscataway on Saturday, September 21. The game vs. the Razorbacks marks the first time RU will host a SEC opponent on-campus.

Following a bye week on September 28, Rutgers closes the season with eight BIG EAST games beginning Saturday, October 5 at SMU.

The first of two ESPN Thursday primetime appearances on the 2013 schedule begins Thursday, October 10 at Louisville.

Following a bye week on October 19, Rutgers returns home for a stretch of three consecutive league contests. The Scarlet Knights host Houston on Saturday, October 26 followed by home dates against Temple (Saturday, November 2) and Cincinnati (Saturday, November 16).

Another ESPN Thursday primetime appearance on the road is set for Thursday, November 21 at UCF. It is the first meeting between the two schools since Rutgers’ 45-24 victory in the 2009 St. Petersburg Bowl.

Rutgers closes out its road schedule at regional rival Connecticut on Saturday, November 30.

The regular season comes to an end at High Point Solutions Stadium on Saturday, December 7 vs. USF. The game will be televised on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.

Game times and additional television information will be released at a later date.
