Pet Tip of the Week: Spring Has Sprung (

Around any holiday I like to remind readers about the dangers of over-feeding their pets, and to remind you about the list of “no-no” ingredients that can make your dog sick.

When families gather, Fido has the opportunity to beg for food. While a once-in-awhile treat is fine, remember that over-feeding can cause diarrhea, bloating, and obesity.

Chocolate is on the list of potentially lethal ingredients; it can cause kidney failure very quickly. Xylitol, an artificial sweetener found in some candy, is also on the danger list.

Raisins and other berries should never be given to a dog. “Easter grass”, the stuff that lines Easter baskets, will cause strangulation or internal injuries if ingested.

The most important thing you can do for your dog this holiday is to watch him closely. Make Bannersure he cannot reach those forbidden goodies!

Have a safe and happy Easter!
