Around any holiday I like to remind readers about the dangers of over-feeding their pets, and to remind you about the list of “no-no” ingredients that can make your dog sick.
When families gather, Fido has the opportunity to beg for food. While a once-in-awhile treat is fine, remember that over-feeding can cause diarrhea, bloating, and obesity.
Chocolate is on the list of potentially lethal ingredients; it can cause kidney failure very quickly. Xylitol, an artificial sweetener found in some candy, is also on the danger list.
Raisins and other berries should never be given to a dog. “Easter grass”, the stuff that lines Easter baskets, will cause strangulation or internal injuries if ingested.
Have a safe and happy Easter!
