Judge Refuses to Lower Bail for Woman Involved in Shooting Incident

March 28, 2013--A Superior Court judge today refused to lower the $250,000 bail for Anna Guido  (DOB 9/21/59) of 195 Fries Mill Rd.,, Washington Township NJ, charged with attempted murder, robbery, aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a handgun in a shooting incident at a township antiques shop on Feb. 21, 2013.

After hearing her lawyer’s request for a “substantial” bail reduction for a woman he said has been diagnosed as mentally ill and who has family support and medical care available, Superior court Judge Walter L. Marshall Jr. cited the seriousness of the charges in maintaining the current bail.  He ordered that Guido receive a psychiatric evaluation at the state’s Ann Klein Hospital in West Trenton NJ.

Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Laurie Cimino argued the bail “is commensurate with the seriousness of the charges.”  Cimino said Guido is accused of entering the Antiques Only shop and demanding money from a two-year-old layaway.  When refused, she pulled a gun and the shop owner turned over $55, Cimino said..  Guido then demanded interest and fired a handgun at the owner before fleeing. She was arrested Feb. 22 at the home of a brother in Prospect Park PA, Cimino said.

Guido’s actions were “the result of mental disease,” said defense attorney Ron Appleby.
