GLOUCESTER CATHOLIC HS NEWS--While the Lady Rams basketball team ran into some tough competition at the South Jersey Invitational Basketball Tournament at Eastern last weekend, GCHS' Maggie McIntyre was busy making history.
Maggie became the first freshman in history to win the 3-Point Shootout Campaign on Sunday, when she prevailed over her competition in the Final Four. Overall, Maggie beat out 167 of South Jersey's top shooters, and was awarded the title at halftime of Sunday's SJIBT Championship game between Rancocas Valley and Willingboro.
The format consisted of both free throws and 3-point shots, and all players took part in preliminary rounds for the chance to advance to the Final Four. Maggie won the championship shootout by defeating Cedar Creek's Mikila Stefanski in the final, 15-12.
Of course, Maggie has had plenty of practice dropping in her shots during the regular season, scoring more than 200 points and converting close to 50 3-pointers during a stellar freshman season in which the Lady Rams have posted a 22-2 record.
