"Honors Band began as a collaborative effort between Audubon Band Director Susan Moore and Mount Ephraim Schools 10 years ago. It has grown to include various local schools," said Mt. Ephriam Band Director and Music Teacher Mary Manion.
Continuing, "We include students that are recommended by their directors in grades 5 and 6. This year participating schools included Audubon, Mount Ephraim, Gloucester City and Brooklawn. The students received music in November and worked on nine selections. They attended group rehearsal as Mansion Avenue School in January. Each director taught and conducted several numbers, so the students got a chance to learn from differing styles and personalities. They played side-by-side with kids from other programs, broadening their musical experience and forging new friendships. For Kershaw School students, many of them got a glimpse of future high school classmates that they will meet again at Audubon High School. The students rehearsed all morning and performed in a public concert at Audubon High School on the afternoon of January 19th.
