February 1, 2013 (Washington, DC) - During the 2012 September meeting of the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation's (CSF) Board of Directors, new leaders and members of the board were elected to serve in 2013. The elections came on the heels of the successful CSF Annual Banquet and Auction and established a new Chairman, Vice-Chair, Secretary and three new members to begin service in the new year.
The CSF Board of Directors is comprised of leaders from the sportsmen's community and allied industries. Each of these individuals is selected because of their commitment to the mission, objectives and goals of CSF.
Former Georgia Congressman and 2012 Chairman of the Board, Lindsay Thomas, was acknowledged for his superb service as he passed the reigns to Bob Model of the Boone & Crockett Club (BIO), to serve as Chairman of the Board in 2013 and 2014. Mark DeYoung (BIO), CEO of ATK, was elected as Vice-Chair, and President of the Center for Coastal Conservation, Jeff Angers (BIO) was elected as Secretary.
Bob Model, new Chairman of the CSF Board stated, "It is my honor to be elected as Chairman of the CSF Board of Directors. I have worked alongside CSF for years and look forward to continuing to serve the sportsmen's community. It's important that the time-honored traditions of sportsmen and women and the continued management and conservation of our precious natural resources and wildlife remain front and center in the halls of government."
Three new members were also elected to the board. Jeanne Mitchell (BIO), ExxonMobil Senior Director of Federal Relations; Brian Linneman (BIO), Cabela's Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer; and John Green (BIO), Chairman of Crossroads Strategies, LLC, were appointed to serve until 2016. Tommy Millner (BIO), President and Chief Executive Officer of Cabela's, will remain on the CSF Board of Directors as an Honorary Member.
Brian Linneman is an avid sportsman, who started hunting and fishing as a youngster in South Dakota and has worked in the outdoor industry for over fifteen years. John Green is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys big game hunting and wing shooting, and Jeanne Mitchell brings a great amount of experience in public affairs and federal relations to the CSF Board.
"CSF is fortunate to have exceptional, quality individuals serving on our board. Their insights, counsel and guidance have been invaluable as CSF increases our role as the leader in working with state and federal elected officials to advance a pro-sportsmen's agenda," said CSF President Jeff Crane.
Two long-time serving board members, Laurie Aronson of Lipsey's & Haspel and Merle Shephard, terms expired at the end of 2012.
