La Salle Baseball Signs Three to National Letters |

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle head baseball coach Mike Lake has announced the signing of three standout players to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period for the 2013-14 academic year.

Voorhees, N.J. (Eastern)
IF/C – 5-9, 170 – L/R

Three-year varsity baseball letter winner at Eastern with the ability to play all over the diamond…three-time first team all-conference selection, twice as a second baseman, once as a catcher…twice named first team all-Group IV…two-time Carpenter Cup Showcase honoree…recognized as a second team all-South Jersey standout after junior season…posted a career .441 batting average while successfully stealing 52/53 bases through three years…competed on several prep travel prep squads including Gibbsboro Legion, South Jersey Young Guns, and Tri-State Arsenal…selected to Tri-State Arsenal’s Team Northeast to compete in Jupiter, Fla.  

Head coach Mike Lake: "Nick is versatile athlete that can play a number of different positions and excel at a few of them. He runs well, throws well, and can really swing the bat. He comes from a good high school program and will fit in right away."

Three-year varsity baseball letter winner at Thomas S. Wootton as a starting pitcher and infielder…registered a 1.25 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 39 innings his junior year while holding opposing hitters to a .155 clip...hit .368 with four doubles, three triples (.544 SLG) and 19 RBIs in 20 games…played for the Richmond Braves 18U National Team…recognized as a 2013 Maryland preseason all-state selection…named to second team All-Gazette as a junior…first team All-Division selection in 2011 and 2012

Head coach Mike Lake: "Andrew is a big kid who can play third base and pitch at a high level. He has the ability to hit for power and has a presence on the mound. He had quite a few other offers so we’re especially excited to have him here."

Gilbertsville, Pa. (The Hill School)
OF – 5-10, 180 – R/R

Outfield standout at The Hill School under head coach Chris Drowne…played for Elite Baseball of Lancaster under head coach Matt Knox…posted .484/.577/.813 slash line over the summer with 29 RBIs and 23 stolen bases in 25 games…twice named to the All Mid-Atlantic Prep team

Head coach Mike Lake: "Joey is an outfielder who’s going to bring a lot of energy to the team. He also runs well and we’re looking forward having him on board."
