Galloway Township News.com Website has a New Owner

(December 24, 2012)GallowayTwpNews.com has been sold to another Publisher. The website which was launched in October 2011 by Harry B. Scheeler Jr. has exposed unethical conduct by multiple officials and irregularities in regular day-to-day operations. Through Open Public Records Act requests, tips, sources and Township employees, we were able to report with such pin point accuracy and become a Watch Dog Website on Galloway Township.
Over the past couple months, GallowayTwpNews has been approached by multiple individuals and one company interested in purchasing this website. With the amount of passion and work GallowayTwpNews.comhas put forth, it was a struggle to decide whether to end our open government crusade with Galloway Township.
I am proud of the accomplishments this website has made with the support from many residents as well as open government advocates. Through the work of this website, I can say new policies in Galloway Township have been created regarding Comp Time of Salaried Employees as well as Appointments and Oath Offices administered properly, just to name a few. There have been to many achievements to name, however a highlight of this website will forever change how Township property is used for personal use, whether it be Township Vehicles, computers or Township cell phones.
There is still more work to be done and investigations to be conducted. I am confident the new Publisher of GallowayTwpNews.com will continue in their own reporting style to report and analyze the Township's operations.
Part of our decision to sell was due to recent events that have unfolded. As this website relied heavily on tips and sources, there were some sources within this past month that presented very incriminating documents on multiple officials, past and present.
As I recently reported on those communications an additional source claiming to be an employee came forward requesting this publisher not to release the information we received. The individual who claimed to be an employee indicated some of the information we received was intentionally fabricated in a collaborative effort by many employees to incriminate high level officials.
Since GallowayTwpNews.com had already been in negotiations to sell the website, we have decided to remove the story and allow any other sources with information to come forward to the new Publisher.
GallowayTwpNews.com under new ownership, will continue to receive information which benefits the community under the protection of the New Jersey Shield Law and act in the best interest of the community. However moving forward, I have decided to have no further involvement with this website.
