GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP NJ-On 12/21/2012 just after midnight, the Gloucester Township Police Department received an alarm activation for a residence on Brookline Drive in Gloucester Township. Very shortly after, police dispatch then started receiving reports of a dwelling on fire.
First arriving police officers located the dwelling emitting heavy fire. Officers confirmed all the residents of the burning dwelling had safely escaped the structure. Due to the very heavy fire load and gusting winds, first responding fire department units immediately began deploying large diameter master streams to protect adjacent dwellings. Police units meanwhile began evacuating nearby residents from their homes.
Fire departments from numerous fire districts from central Camden County responded to the scene to fight the two alarm fire. The American Red Cross was called and responded to the scene to provide assistance to the displaced residents. The fire was contained to the house of origin, however, both adjacent homes suffered minor damage to their exteriors.
There was no injuries reported by any residents or emergency responders. This fire is under the investigation by the Chews Landing Fire Marshal, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office Arson Investigation Unit and the Gloucester Township Police Department. Preliminary investigation indicates the fire to be non-suspicious in nature.
