Gloucester Catholic High School students provide the music at the annual Communion breakfast Nov. 18 sponsored by the Alumni Association. Alumni and friends of Gloucester Catholic High School were honored Nov. 18 during the high school Alumni Association’s Annual Communion Breakfast, in Msgr. Lucitt Hall.
The honorees were Dennis Barth, Class of 1980, former head baseball coach; Mary Kelly, teacher; Dan Spencer, class of 1978, councilman and of Camden County Health Services; and Sally Gorman, class of 1943, alumni and supporter of the school her entire life.
Dennis Barth received the John and Jackie O’Donnell Award, given to a graduate of Gloucester Catholic who demonstrates generous service to the school community. Recently resigning as head baseball coach at the school, Barth has the most wins of any baseball coach in school history.
Mary Kelly received the Dr. Frank and Catherine Kelly Award, given to a friend of the school who through their good work, brings honor and recognition to the school. A teacher at St. Mary Elementary School and now Gloucester Catholic Junior High, Kelly was praised as an exemplary teacher and role model and mentor to junior high teachers.
Dan Spencer received the Thomas Steward III Award, given to a graduate that demonstrates selfless commitment and extraordinary service to the greater community. A Gloucester City councilman who works for Camden County Health Services, he was praised for his work several years ago, when during a major flu epidemic, he arranged for the county to come to Gloucester Catholic, and give flu shots to students and staff.
Sally Gorman received the Gloucester Catholic Alumni Association Legacy Award, given to recognize someone who through their dedication and commitment to the school throughout the years, has left an indelible mark on the Gloucester Catholic community. A devoted alumni and supporter of the school her entire life, Gorman’s children also are alumni of the high school.
