11th Annual James G. Atkinson Memorial Basketball Classic

Event set for December 27 and 28
(Sewell, NJ) - Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Deputy Director Giuseppe “Joe” Chila announced the schedule for the 11th Annual James G. Atkinson Memorial Basketball Classic Tournament that will be held at Gloucester County College on Thursday, December 27 and Friday, December 28, 2012.
Freeholder Director Robert Damminger said, “Every year outstanding high school teams take part in the tournament. This year we welcome Paulsboro High School, Deptford Township High School, Glassboro, Timber Creek, Kingsway Regional, and Winslow.” Damminger noted that his alma matter, Paulsboro High School has participated in the Classic every year since its inception.
James G. Atkinson served on the Freeholder Board for almost 20 years and as Mayor to Washington Township for six years during his lengthy career in public service.
“Thank you to the sponsors that help defray the costs of the event so that any proceeds go directly to the James G. Atkinson Foundation for scholarships. These funds help provide educational opportunities for those who are unable to afford college but have the potential to academically succeed. The scholarship is a terrific way to recognize local high school students for academic accomplishments and encourages them to attend the Gloucester County College,” stated Freeholder Deputy Director Giuseppe “Joe”.
