Happy Thanksgiving
Most Camden County offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 22 in observance of Thanksgiving. Please plan any business you may have with the county accordingly. Although most offices are closed, you can still access county services by going to www.camdencounty.com to get information and interact with the Freeholder Board.
Camden County Police Department moves forward
On Monday, Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli spoke to NBC 10 about the forthcoming Camden County police department. FEMA Disaster Recovery Center still open
If you or someone you know has suffered damage to a home or business as a result of Hurricane Sandy, you may be eligible for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Camden County Office of Emergency Management has partnered with FEMA to open a Disaster Recovery Center to assist those impacted by the storm at the Camden County Public Works Complex, 2311 Egg Harbor Road in Lindenwold. The center will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. seven days a week for as long as it is needed. Those wishing to meet with FEMA representatives are requested to bring their insurance policies, proof of ownership of residence, receipts and cost estimates. County Library system is providing free library cards to Sandy victims
The Camden County Library System is stepping up to help victims of Hurricane Sandy. The library, under the guidance of Freeholder Ian Leonard, announced it is providing free, six month library cards to anyone displaced by the storm and welcomes them to use any of the system’s eight branches. We want to open our doors and welcome anyone displaced by the hurricane to use our services and facilities. If you know anyone staying in Camden County that has been displaced by the storm please send them to www.camdencountylibrary.org or have them call (856) 772-1636.
Medicare Open Enrollment
If you are one of the thousands of Camden County residents who wants to take advantage of the Medicare open enrollment period, please join the Office of Senior and Disabled Services for a special workshop on Nov. 28 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Camden County Store on the second floor of the Voorhees Town Center. Those wishing to attend the free event should call (856) 858-3220 to register as space is limited. You may also call to schedule an appointment with a counselor at the Camden County Division of Senior & Disabled Services, 700 Browning Road, Suite 11, West Collingswood, NJ 08107. Senior Prize Bingo Dec. 10
The Senior Citizen Prize Bingo that was canceled on Oct. 29 due to Hurricane Sandy has been rescheduled for Monday, Dec. 10. The free event sponsored by the Camden County Division of Senior and Disabled Services is being held at the Gloucester Township Senior Citizen Center at the municipal complex on Chews Landing Road. Doors open at 11:00 a.m. and Bingo begins at noon. Light refreshments will be served. Senior citizens interested in attending should call (856) 858-2986 to reserve a seat. Space is limited.
Camden County Freedom Medal
The Freeholder Board is accepting nominations for the Camden County Freedom Medal. The award is presented to extraordinary citizens of Camden County who have selflessly contributed their time and effort to better their community and continue Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream of bringing people together.
