PHILADELPHIA - La Salle has claimed the top seed in the 2012 Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Championship, which will be played at Rhode Island’s URI Soccer Complex Thurs., Nov. 1-Sun., Nov. 4. It is the second straight year the Explorers won the A-10 regular season title, claiming the top spot in the championship, and only the second time in program history. La Salle will face eighth-seeded Charlotte at 11:00 am on Thursday.

The Explorers, ranked No. 1 regionally and receiving votes nationally, finished the regular season at 8-0-1 in conference play with 25 points and a 14-4-1 record overall. La Salle, who finishes their second consecutive undefeated season in the A-10, has not lost a regular season A-10 matchup since October 29, 2010, an impressive streak spanning across 18 matches.

The 49ers finished in a three-way tie for seventh with Massachusetts and Richmond at 13 points and won the tiebreaker for the eighth seed with a 4-4-1 A-10 record and 10-7-2 overall.
