Rescue in Absecon/ Crash in Cape May

Car Washed Off the Road in Absecon

Absecon, N.J. -- At approximately 2:00 p.m. this afternoon, a group of state troopers en route to perform water rescues and evacuations responded to a report of a car washed off the road with people entrapped. The troopers located the small tan car off of Route 30 in Absecon with two men and one woman trapped inside with almost three feet of water and debris around the car. The troopers were able to open the vehicle’s doors and remove the occupants to safety. They drove them to a residence in Pleasantville, N.J.

National Guard Truck in Cape May County Crash

Upper Township, N.J. -- Just before 11:00 a.m. today, a New Jersey National Guard two and a half ton truck was traveling south on Rt. 50 when a Honda Civic pulled out of Peach Orchard Rd. in front of it. The guardsman swerved to avoid the Honda, but struck the small car and then hitting a utility pole, before overturning and sliding into a second pole.

The two guardsmen in the truck received minor injuries and were taken to Cape Regional Medical Center where they were treated and released. The driver of the Honda, a 53 year old man from Ocean City, N.J. was transported to Atlantic City Medical Center, City Division and is listed in stable condition.
