Senior Elizabeth Williams Leads Lightning With 28th Place Finish

WILMINGTON, Del. – Senior Elizabeth Williams (A.I. duPont H.S./Wilmington, Del.) earned 28th place to lead Goldey-Beacom College to a seventh place finish at the 11th annual Goldey-Beacom College Fall Classic at Carousel Park on Friday afternoon.

Williams, who was the Lightning’s top finisher for the fifth straight meet, completed the race in a time of 23:53 as Goldey-Beacom scored 179 points. Meanwhile, Hood College earned the women’s team title by scoring 49 points while the University of the Sciences followed in second place with 50 points.

Freshman Sarah Grzybowski (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) earned 40th place with a time of 25:05 while senior Felicia Justice (Clearfield H.S./West Point, Utah) followed in 41st place by crossing the finish line in 25:15.

Freshman Valarie Orth (Schalick H.S./Pittsgrove, N.J.) earned 44th place with a time of 25:38 while junior Carly Mitchell (Elkton H.S./Elkton, Md.) followed with a time of 25:54 to earn 47th place. Senior Alyssa Murray (Hodgson Vo-Tech H.S./Townsend, Del.) finished the race in 52nd place with a time of 26:26 while junior Tigan Frisby (Mount Pleasant H.S./Claymont, Del.) crossed the finish line in a time of 27:32, which was good for 59th place.

Freshmen Samia Blassengale (Delcastle H.S./Newark, Del.) and Leshae Lee (Joppatowne H.S./Edgewood, Md.) finished the race in 62nd and 64th places, respectively.

The Lightning will return to action on Friday, Oct. 12 at the University of Delaware Blue and Gold Meet, which will begin at 2 p.m.
