GLOUCESTER CITY NJ-Trash left over from a McDonalds Happy Meal was thrown about at the Lane and Thompson Avenues Playground Saturday morning, September 22. Talk about inconsiderate slobs. A trash can is located just a few feet away.
A number of people use the park everyday. How long do you think the trash will lay there before someone picks it up?
For years community activist Dan Reader took care of the park. Everyday he would clean the trash up, water the plants and do other odd jobs to keep the park nice for the people who used it. A few week ago he quit that volunteer job because of the fishing ban at Freedom Pier imposed by Mayor James and City council.
Since he has quit you'll find all kinds discarded matter inside the playground fence such as broken beer bottles, beer cans, soda cans, candy wrappers, banana peels, newspapers etc. We have said it time and time again, some Gloucester City residents lack community pride. The photo above is proof. If you need more evidence just take a walk around your neighborhood, our city. The properties of the people who don't give a damm stand out like a sore thumb. Grass is overgrown, trash is sprewed about, the house is falling down and in need of maintenace. Things will never change for the better in Gloucester City as long as these good- for- nothing couch potatoes live here.
