SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES EXECUTE SEARCH WARRANT AT CONSTRUCTION COMPANY

CRIMINAL EMPLOYMENT INVESTIGATION NETS 17 ARRESTS OF SUSPECTED ILLEGAL ALIENS

(Phoenix, AZ) This morning Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant at United Construction Group located at 6840 W. Frier Drive in Glendale seeking numerous suspects whose employment records show they are likely using false identifications.

According to Sheriff Joe Arpaio, his deputies received information from an employee at the warehouse that several employees were suspected of being illegal aliens and using false identifications.

After a thorough search of employment records, deputies determined that the company employed 126 workers. Sixteen employees at the company were suspected of using false identification to gain employment there.

Today’s operation marks the 67th criminal employment operation undertaken by the Sheriff’s Office. In previous operations, a total of 647 suspects were arrested by Sheriff’s deputies, 460 for identify theft, a class four felony. All of the suspects arrested for identity theft were later determined to be illegal aliens.

Arpaio is concerned about Washington’s new policy about not arresting illegal aliens unless they meet certain criteria. In this investigation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) refused to arrest two illegal aliens that were looking for work while deputies were investigating the establishment. Arpaio refused to allow the suspected illegal aliens to be released into the streets and ordered the deputies to transport these two suspects to the United States Border Patrol.

“Illegal immigration continues to be a serious problem in Arizona and the United States,” Sheriff Arpaio says, “especially those here illegally stealing people’s identity. These individuals indirectly open up employee opportunities for businesses and help increase employment for those in the country legally”.
