Philadelphia's Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon a mainstay for 35 years
A beautiful Sunday morning made for ideal conditions for the running of the 35th Annual Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon on September 16. An estimated 20,000 participants laced up their running shoes to compete in the 13.1-mile race throughout Center City and Fairmount Park's scenic river drives.
Formerly the Philadelphia Distance Run, the race was added to the Rock 'n' Roll series in 2010 and has attracted some of the sport's greatest runners, producing five world records, three U.S. marks and numerous other records.
In his first time competing in Philadelphia, Stanley Biwott of Kenya claimed the men's title, while fellow Kenyan Sharon Cherop was the women's winner in the event for the second time.
Congratulations to this year's winners!
