GLOUCESTER CITY NJ-For all those who have been waiting for the new steak house family restaurant to open it looks like you'll have to put away those steak knives for a while. For some reason the owners, JK Venture, t/a Tavern on the Edge, 4th Street and Jersey Ave., have decided to put the building up for sale. The asking price $650,000. Construction on the property began in 2008 and was completed in 2011. However the restaurant doors never opened.

The new restaurant was built on the site of the Sports Corner Bar. That building was demolished in August 2007 to make way for the proposed family style restaurant. The Sports Corner bar had been closed for nearly 20 years.

The announcement for the restaurant released in 2007 read in part,

JK Venture Enterprises, LLC, the current property owners, have been working diligently to demolish and clean up the site in order to get it ready for their newest endeavor. A family style restaurant.

JK Venture is a UEZ business trading as Tavern on the Edge.

Recently approved at the June Gloucester City Planning/Zoning Board meeting, JK Venture Enterprises, LLC t/a Tavern on the Edge plans to erect a two-story restaurant/bar with outdoor dining to be completed by winter 2008.  

 Century 21/Raun and Johns is the realtor handling the sale. From the advertisement,

This Bar/Restaurant is NEW CONSTRUCTION! There are 2 floors for the bar and or restaurant and a full basement which the city has approved for cooking if needed. There is a kitchen on first floor and a deck on the second floor for added space or smokers. The Liquor License is available for an additional amount for buyer to acquire. The whole property has upgrades everywhere from duel zone HVAC to electric and plumbing and custom wood work and custom Bar. There are many windows for great natural lighting and you can see the river from the property. Plenty of free approved street parking for 150 people which this property is approved for.
