Emergency Responders Partner With Boy Scout Troop 811

To Teach Scouts How To Be Prepared For A School Bus Emergency Incident.
On Monday evening, September 17, 2012 the Gloucester Township Police Department, Gloucester Township Office of Emergency Management (OEM), Chews Landing Fire Department, Kennedy Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit conducted a training exercise with members of Boy Scout Troop 811. The exercise simulated a school bus accident. Emergency Responders interacted with the 74 Scouts from Troop 811 and explained their roles during a response to such an event.
Emergency workers and scouts demonstrated their actions while en route to a motor vehicle crash; procedures while at the accident scene and measures necessary to make the scene safe.
Several members of Troop 811 used this exercise to complete the requirements for their Emergency Preparedness and First Aid Merit Badges.
