2012-13 Wilmington Men’s Basketball Schedule

September 21, 2012

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University men’s basketball team will get a real test of what it’s made of for the 2012-13 season as the Wildcats open their campaign with an exhibition against NCAA Division I NIT participant Seton Hall, announced head coach Mike Gallagher.

In addition to the BIG EAST opponent to kick things off in preseason, the Wildcats will face three NCAA Division II Tournament participants throughout the regular season, playing 12 home games inside the new WU Athletics Complex, highlighting the 2012-13 schedule.

Entering into his fifth season at the helm of the Wildcats, Gallagher will take his team to Southern New Hampshire for a two-day tip-off tournament starting on November 9 against the host Penmen and Franklin Pierce the following night. Franklin Pierce won the NE-10 regular season championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season.

Kutztown comes to Delaware for the Wildcats’ home-opener on November 14, allowing the home town crowd to see the team in action in its new facility for the first time. Wilmington will also face West Chester, Lincoln University and Southern New Hampshire at home through the course of its non-conference schedule.

Other non-conference opponents the Wildcats will face on the road include a November 17 matchup at Millersville, a November 25 matchup at Howard and a January 14, 2013 game at the New York Institute of Technology.

The Wildcats begin the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference season on the road at the University of the Sciences on November 28. They will also head to Post on December 1, making it consecutive road games to start the CACC schedule.

The CACC home portion of the Wildcats’ schedule starts on December 4 as they welcome Chestnut Hill into the WU Athletics Complex. They will also square off against Goldey-Beacom, Dominican, USciences, Holy Family, Nyack, Caldwell and Philadelphia at home this season.

The Wildcats head to Felician, Goldey-Beacom, Holy Family, Concordia, Chestnut Hill, Bloomfield and Philadelphia, rounding out the road schedule for the season.

Bloomfield won the CACC tournament, earning the automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Tournament, advancing to the third round before being knocked out. Philadelphia also earned a berth in to the NCAA Tournament, falling to Franklin Pierce in the first round.

Wilmington will look to be one of the four teams to earn a spot in the CACC Tournament from the South Division for the first time since earning the third seed in 2009-10.
