On July 31, 2012. Age 93. Of Gloucester City. Beloved husband of 35 years to the late Jane P. Woods (nee Przeradzki). Loving father of Jane F. “Neen” Raspa and her husband, Richard A. Raspa Sr. Predeceased by his son, Thomas J. “Timmy” Woods Jr. Cherished grandfather of Michael T., Nina A., and Richard A. Raspa Jr. Dear brother of Catherine Siedlecki and Terrence Woods. Predeceased by his siblings, Rose Quinn, James J. Woods Jr. and Helen Cusick . Also survived by his dear friends, William O’Neill and Frank Ramagli, and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was born in Philadelphia and was a longtime resident of Gloucester City. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Tom worked as a Storage Manager at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and retired as the "plank holder" after 57 years of service. He was a member of the Lamont Social Club in South Philadelphia and was a faithful and devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Gloucester City for 60 years. Tom was an avid supporter of Gloucester Catholic High School and his passion was following the Girls Softball, Girls Basketball and Girls Soccer teams over the years. He summered in Ocean City, NJ and attended St. Frances Cabrini Church for over 40 years. Tom loved going to yard sales, selling golf clubs and was an avid fan of the Phillies.
Relatives, friends and the Gloucester Catholic community are kindly invited to attend his viewing on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM and again on Saturday morning from 10 to 11:15 AM at St. Mary’s R.C. Church: 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:30 AM in the church. Interment with U.S Naval Honors will follow in New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.
