TCNJ FIELD HOCKEY RANKED FIRST IN NATIONAL PRESEASON POLL

Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey field hockey team will not only enter the upcoming season as the defending NCAA Division III National Champions, the Lions were also voted to the top spot of the 2012 Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division IIII Preseason Poll.
TCNJ collected 703 points and 29 first-place votes. Bowdoin College is second with 632 points and Middlebury College third with 605.
The Lions enter the new season riding a 14-game winning streak after defeating Middlebury 3-1 in last fall’s title game.
TCNJ open the season at Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday, August 31. The team’s home opener is slated for Tuesday, September 11 hosting Richard Stockton College at 7:30 p.m.
During the course of the season, the Lions will play six teams ranked in the poll with home dates against Ursinus College (sixth), Montclair State University (ninth), and SUNY Cortland (19th), while facing Salisbury University (fourth), Messiah College (fifth), and Rowan University (18th).
