La Salle Adds Muir, Pannulla to XC/T&F Staff

PHILADELPHIA – Tina Muir and Tom Pannulla have been named as cross country/track and field assistants, head coach Dan Ireland announced today.

“We are very excited to incorporate both of these individuals into the Explorer cross country and track and field coaching staffs,” Ireland said. “The addition of these two individuals will help us continue to uphold the La Salle tradition and hopefully take it to new heights in the coming years.”

Tina Muir enjoyed a decorated distance career at Ferris State University from 2008-12.

During her tenure as a Bulldog, Muir set PR’s in the 1500m (4:26), 5K (16:10), and 10K (33:47). She was recognized for her exceptional performance in being recognized as Ferris State’s “Bulldog of the Year” for three consecutive years. In addition, she was a 2012 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee.

Muir hails from St. Albans, UK and competed in the British Olympic trials in the 10K this summer, finishing third.

She placed in the top 10 in three different events at the NCAA Division II Championships during her Bulldog career and was named a Division II All-American in 11 different seasons.

“Tina brings to the Explorers a very accomplished athlete that has a strong desire to continue her involvement in the sport through coaching,” Ireland said.

Muir will be pursuing an MBA in La Salle’s graduate school.

Tom Pannulla ran distance for the Explorers from 2007-11. He was a member of two Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships cross country teams and competed in both indoor and outdoor track.

The Coatesville, Pa. product compiled PR’s in the 5,000m (14:38), 8,000m (24:44), and 10,000m (31:24) during his distance career as an Explorer.

In Tom, we get to keep a connection to the past in addition to the knowledge of La Salle that he has garnered over the last 5 years,” Ireland said.

Tom will be pursuing a graduate degree in education at La Salle.
