OMAHA, Neb. - La Salle rising senior Blase Szyzsko (Bensalem, Pa. / La Salle College HS) completed his second of two events at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials on Thursday, posting a time of 2:22.53 in the 200m breaststroke. That time placed him 103rd in the event, besting 26 swimmers.

On Monday, the Bensalem, Pa. native swam the 100m breaststroke in a time of 1:05.04, which was good for 99th at the Trials. He beat 40 swimmers in that event.

And while Szyzsko will not be heading to London for the Olympic Games, his experience was one he will never forget.

"The Olympic Trials was a dream come true for me," Szyzsko said. "It made me realize where all the time I put into my training and swimming was for.

"Moments and experiences like this are unforgettable and will stay with me forever," he continued. "I also learned another reason why a smaller and more personable school is a great choice.

"The way everyone supported me in achieving my dream from the tweets to the texts, it was great! You don't really get that anywhere else. All the cheering and support I received from everyone was something that made this dream unforgettable. The same people who supported me are the ones who kept me going through all these years and made swimming as fun as it is," Szyzsko said.
