Prior to her arrival at Castle Point, Haughey was the assistant women’s basketball coach at DeSales University for the past three seasons. Under her tutelage, the Bulldogs won back-to-back Freedom Conference Titles in 2010 and 2011 and earned subsequent trips to the NCAA Division III National Championship.

Haughey was responsible for off-season student-athlete recruiting at DeSales, guard skill development and supervising the staff and coordinating lesson plans at the DeSales summer basketball camp.

Haughey is currently the director of the Read and React summer camp in Hunterdon County, a basketball program for children in grades K-12 and staffed by over a dozen counselors.

After earning her undergraduate degree from Lafayette College in 2004, Haughey took the position of head varsity girls’ basketball coach at Phillipsburg (N.J.) High School. In so doing, she became the youngest varsity head coach in the state of New Jersey at age 21. While at Phillipsburg she engineered a quick turnaround; taking a one-win Stateliner team and having it earn double-digit victories the next season. In 2005, Phillipsburg enjoyed their finest campaign in 11 years and reached the country semifinals for the first time in program history.

Collegiately, Haughey played for two seasons at Division I Lafayette in Easton, Pennsylvania. The shooting guard started all 26 games as a freshman and played in all 26 games as a sophomore, averaged 3.7 points per game and dished out 1.3 assists per contest.

Haughey graduated from Lafayette in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in History, and went on to earn a Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University in 2008. She was also a class instructor at Rutgers and taught social studies in her time in Phillipsburg.

A standout high school student-athlete, Haughey was the first-ever female athlete to earn 12 varsity letters at North Hunterdon (N.J.) High School. She played three sports (basketball, soccer and softball), scored over 1,100 career points in basketball, was first-team all-county in each of her four seasons and inducted into the NHHS Hall of Fame in 2011.

Haughey has also served in a leadership position at Habitat for Humanity International, where she was a global village trip leader and oversaw all aspects of her 2007 expedition including the recruiting of team members, budget management, planning, logistics and on-site building operations.

She currently resides in Pittstown, N.J.
