Gloucester City High School Graduates Receive $481,000 in Awards and

GLOUCESTER CITY NJ-The word commencement is the start or beginning of something. As the Graduates
of Gloucester City High School found out their first steps into the future will be a little easier with the generosity of many local civic and youth organizations and alumnus. 

The Gloucester Rotary ($975) and Lions ($550) Clubs, Girls Ponytail League ($1,000), Gloucester City Youth Soccer ($500), Carmen Palmiero Basketball League ($250), South Jersey Basketball Officials ($2,000) and Gloucester City Mustangs Football ($150) provided only a small portion of the over $41,000 contributed to 2012 Graduates at the Annual Awards Luncheon held at the Brooklawn American Legion last week.

The GHS Alumni Association provided another $6,000 to the Graduates with most classmates received a portion. Due to efforts of the GHS Administration  new business’s jump on the Scholarship bandwagon.  One of was Gaetano’s of Brooklawn was a first time provider with a $250 award.

This windfall was just the start; on Graduation night many students received additional awards and Scholarships. As the Ceremony came to a close, it was announced that the 2012 Graduates had brought the GHS Students a combined $481,000 in Awards and Scholarships. It may have been sad saying goodbye but the little smile said that these boys and girls will be ok.
