Dr. Therman Evans Selected As E3's New Chairman

5/4/2012 New Brunswick, NJ – The Board of Trustees of E3, Excellent Education for Everyone, Leaders in Urban Education Reform, announce today that Dr. Therman Evans has been selected as E3’s new Chairman.


Dr. Evans follows in the footsteps of Founder and Chairman Peter Denton, who led the organization for thirteen years.


Establishing E3 as a leader in urban education reform, and serving as its Chairman as it became established has been an honor and a privilege,” says Peter Denton, Chairman of Denton Vacuum. “Creating a strong board of trustees of New Jersey’s most respected business, policy, and community leaders that believe urban education reform and school choice are necessary to enable New Jersey’s most vulnerable children to participate in 21st century global economy, has been life changing.”


Dr Therman Evans a physician trained in pediatrics, the pastor of Morning Star Community Christian Center, in Linden, NJ is the founder and CEO of Whole Life Associates, former Vice President and Corporate Medical Director of Cigna Insurance and Healthcare Corporation, former Chairman of Washington DC school board, as well as the National Health Director and Washington Bureau Chief for


Reverend Jesse Jackson’s Operation Push. He is a graduate of Howard University Medical School and achieved his PH. D in theology from the United Christian College of New York.


“Urban education reform is more than an education issue, it’s a civil rights issue, a healthcare issue, a moral issue, for without access to a quality education, another generation of minority children will be lost to the cycle of poverty, illness and despair,” said Rev. Evans. “I am honored to be chosen by my colleagues on the E3 board of trustees for their confidence in my leadership.”


E3 Excellent Education for Everyone is an urban education reform organization established in 1999 to advocate for urban education reform including, quality educational choices for children, and parents, funding schools based on enrollment, high academic standards and effective school management, while empowering parents and families to advocate for the same.


The 2012 E3 Diamond Initiative defines E3’s mission for the next generation through the four E3 Institutes of Advocacy, Education, Research and Resource, and Educational Justice.
