Authorities told the Associated Press that police responded to several hang-up calls to 9-1-1 from the Bellmawr apartment around 10:20 p.m. Thursday and learned that 37-year-old Michael Wood had barricaded himself inside.
They say that when they entered the apartment, they found Wood holding a knife.
An officer from Brooklawn shot him twice, killing him.
The officer, whose name has not been made public, has been placed on administrative leave while authorities investigate the shooting.
CNBNEWS reached out to Bellmawr Police Chief Wm. Walsh early Friday morning for further details. As of this posting we have not received a response.
UPDATE: Chief Walsh referred all questions to the Camden County Prosecutors Office.
