Gloucester City Police Dept. Kept Busy on St. Patrick's Day

On 03/16 at 1600 hours a motor vehicle stop on Essex and Railroad led to the arrest of Jaime Schafer (20) of Vineland and Heather Walls (26) of the 500 block of S. Broadway.  Schafer was found to be in possession of 6 bags of heroin, empty bags, and a hypodermic syringe.  Walls was found to be in possession of empty heroin bags and a hypodermic syringe.  Both were charged and released.

 

On 03/17 at 1023 Frank Gilfillan (38) of Gaunt Street was arrested for Shoplifting after stealing two bags of M&M’s.  He was charged and released after posting bail on outstanding warrants.

 

On 03/17 at 0013 officers responded to Linden Street for an unconscious male.  Dennis Morrison, Jr (24) had injected heroin prior to the call and lost consciousness.  He was treated by EMS and taken to the hospital.  Morrison was charged with Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe and Being Under the Influence of CDS.

 

On 03/17 at 0618 officers responded to the 300 block of Mercer Street for an unconscious male.  Joseph Moser (62) had injected heroin and lost consciousness.  He was treated by EMS and taken to the hospital.  Moser was charged with Being Under the Influence of CDS.

 

On 03/17 at 1816 a motor vehicle stop on Broadway and Mercer led to the arrest of Stephen Tyszka (33) of Brooklawn.  Tyszka was charged with DWI after breath tests showed his blood alcohol level at .17%, above the legal limit of .08%.

 

On 03/17 at 1934 a motor vehicle stop on King and Hudson Street led to the arrest of a mother and her two sons.  Kathleen Brantley (48) of Glendora was arrested for Obstruction of Justice and Disorderly Conduct subsequent to the stop.  Brantley was belligerent toward officers, accused them of being drunk and refused to hand over her information when requested to do so.  Her sons, Michael Brantley (24) and Timothy Brantley (22) attempted to interfere with the stop and began to verbally abuse officers.  Both were charged with Disorderly Conduct.

 

On 03/17 at 1952 a male reported that he was robbed by three black males at Essex and Broadway.  The victim reported that he parked his vehicle and was exiting when the suspects approached and demanded money.  They then assaulted the victim and fled toward Collings Road.  Victim could not provide a further description of the suspects.

 

On 03/17 at 2253 Sharon Allison (44) of Mullica Hill was arrested for Disorderly Conduct outside of Oh! Hara’s Bar on King Street.  Allison was yelling at a male outside of the bar.  When told to stop, she had some choice words for officers and refused to leave the area.  She was charged and released.

 

On 03/17 at 2337 officers responded to the 300 block of Ridgeway Street for a male asleep at the wheel.  Officers attempted to make contact with Andrew Markelz (31) of Camden City.  Markelz refused to exit the vehicle when ordered to do so and attempted to close the door on an officer.  He was physically removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest.  Markelz was charged with DWI and Refusal to Submit to Breath Tests.

 

On 03/17 at 2224 Justin Evans (27) of the 800 block of Paul Street was arrested for Urinating in Public at King and Hudson Streets.

 

On 03/17 at 2243 William Vanartsdalen (26) of Camden was arrested for Urinating in Public on Broadway and Warren Streets.

 

On 03/18 at 0132 Charles Mader III (41) of N. Burlington Street exited the 2nd floor Fire Escape at Oh! Hara’s Bar and decided to yell what he thought about the Gloucester City Police Department while officers were parked across the street, causing various patrons annoyance.  Mader was removed from the bar and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

 

On 3/18 at 0219 officers responded to a residence on the 200 block of Morris Street for a family fighting each other.  As a result, officers arrested Shannon McNally (26), Lisa Culver (45), Amanda McNulty (24), Carl Foster (28) and William Vanartsdalen (26).  All were charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and Obstruction of Justice.  Vanartsdalen was also charged with Criminal Mischief after an officer tore his uniform pants while fighting with him in front of the house.  It was Vanartsdalen’s second arrest of the night.

 

On 03/18 at 1338 a resident of the 400 block of Market Street reported that sometime overnight the convertible top on their vehicle was sliced, the center console was removed from the vehicle and the inspection sticker was stolen.

 

On 03/18 at 1900 officers responded to Route 130 and Market Street for a male asleep at the wheel.  Paul Krzywicki (30) of Andalusia, PA awoke after several knocks on his window.  When he saw the officers, Krzywicki stepped on the gas and initiated a motor vehicle pursuit.  He was stopped on Browning Road in Brooklawn after his vehicle was surrounded.  Krzywicki had to be physically removed from the vehicle after failing to comply with officers’ orders.  He was charged with DWI, Eluding and Resisting Arrest.

 

On 03/19 at 1257 Katherine Hawco (53) of Elmwood Ave was arrested on Broadway and Monmouth Street after an officer observed her kick the city trash can into the street.  She became agitated that the officer made her retrieve the trash can from the street and proceeded to provide a fake name in order to conceal her identity.  Hawco was charged with Hindering Apprehension and Disorderly Conduct.

 

On 03/19 at 1616 officers responded to the 100 block of S. Sussex for male who had overdosed on heroin.  Christopher Klemash (29) was charged with Being Under the Influence of CDS, Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

 

On 03/19 at 2146 an officer stopped two males on Broadway and Market Street.  As a result, Ryan Zsirai (19) of the 400 block of Hudson Street was found to be in possession of 7 bags of marijuana and 15 oxycodone pills.  Also, his 15 year old brother was found to be in possession of 15 bags of marijuana, a sandwich bag full of marijuana, packaging material and a digital scale.  The 15 y/o tried to resist officers and attempted to spit in an officer’s face.  He was physically restrained and placed under arrest.  $423 in U.S. Currency was seized from the duo.  Both were charged with Possession of CDS with the Intent to Distribute.  The juvenile was additionally charged with Resisting Arrest.

 

On 03/21 0122 an officer observed a female standing on Broadway and Market Street.  A NJ Transit Bus pulled next to her and an unknown black male appeared at the door.  He handed the female an object and the female handed the unknown male money.  They male re-entered the bus and the female began to run west on Market Street.  When stopped by officers, the female tried to swallow 2 bags of heroin.  Katherine Sylvia (25) of the 300 block of Market Street was charged with Possession of CDS.  She was turned over to Deptford PD on outstanding warrants.

 

On 03/22 at 1332 officers were dispatched to the TD Bank for a male and female fighting inside of the bank.  They fled prior to police arrival, but were located in front of Police Headquarters fighting again.  Celia Rodriguez (29) of Woodbury and William Creamer (51) of Camden were both arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct.  Rodriguez was also charged with Drinking In Public as she was consuming a Bud Ice beer during the incident.

 

On 03/22 at 1858 Richard Walters (59) of the 600 block of Division Street was arrested at Essex and Willow Streets.  Walters was found to be in possession of 6 bags of crack cocaine and was charged with Possession of CDS.

 

Additionally, officers responded to 10 domestic violence incidents, 8 motor vehicle accidents and made 57 arrests.
