Your story could save a life | drugfree.org

When it comes to drug and alcohol abuse, silence can be deadly. People feel empowered when they know they're not alone -- and empowered people can help their loved ones confront addiction.

To see how substance abuse touches all of us, watch this amazing video, which features people speaking frankly about how drugs and alcohol have affected their lives and the lives of those around them.

Interestingly, the things they are saying on the video are things that could also have been shared with a counselor over a drug helpline, and that would have made things better for them early on.

All of us -- parents and friends, health care professionals as well as colleagues -- can do our part by standing with them. Watch the video -- and share your experience with us.

Experiences with addiction often affect more than just the person addicted -- and that's why I'm asking you to send in your own story today. Statistics and expert opinions are important, of course, but there's nothing quite as powerful as someone speaking in their own words.

It's important that people know that The Partnership at Drugfree.org is here for you, your friends and your family. We draw strength from our community, and you a very important, integral part of it.

Watch the video and add your story. It could make all the difference:
