Twelve students from Kershaw School in Mt. Ephraim were recently honored at the February school board meeting for their participation in the annual Winter Festival Honors Band held at Audubon High School. The studnets are 5th and 6th grade members of the Kershaw instrumental program under the direction of Mary Manion.
Students from neighboring Audubon, Brooklawn, Gloucester City and Oaklyn also participated this year. Their respective band directors recommended musicians for membership. A variety of music is chosen and rehearsed during two afternoon clinics in January. Each director conducts several selections, giving the students a great learning experience. This year, band director Susan Moore from Audubon hosted the rehearsals at Mansion Avenue School. The dress rehearsal and concert was performed on January 14th at Audubon High School.
Representing Mt. Ephraim were fifth graders, Julianne Brown, baritone; Mark Colavito, alto saxaphone; Garbirelle Crain, Nicole Dutill and Briana Hamilton, flutes; Robert Snyder, drums; and Kevin Mendez, trumpet. From sixth grade were Kenzie Calhoun, drums; Jaymi Vilardo, mallets; Emma Ball, clarinet; William Stopper, trumpet and Gregory Veach, alto saxaphone.
