(cnbnews.net)In the spirit of adventure your gal, Rita decided to explore the mysteries of India without driving further than good old Collingswood, NJ.
My companion and I entered the cozy, immaculate restaurant and were immediately greeted by the exotic smells of coriander, mango, and cilantro. Our host seated us at a lovely cherrywood table adorned with black linen napkins and pointed out several afternoon specials on the well-appointed menu. We ordered spinach and cheese naan (bread) and the host brought it promptly, along with hot, sweet chai tea.
It took awhile for our entrees to arrive but they were certainly worth the wait! My companion ordered a spicy shrimp dish in a seemingly bottomless portion while I ordered chicken kabobs and saffron rice.
I sampled the shrimp and made a mental note to order it upon a return visit. My own dish, beautiful pieces of bite-sized curried chicken, smelled as luscious as it tasted! The rice was cooked perfectly and was a grand accompaniment to the chicken.
Due to the generosity of the portions we had the host wrap the remainder up to take home and plunged into the dessert menu.
While Indian restaurants aren't well known for their desserts, IndeBlue is the exception; with choices like chocolate peanut icecream, mango cheesecake, and saffron rice pudding, it's no wonder we suddenly found room for "just another bite"! Your gal Rita's mango icecream was a dream come true, drizzled with a sweet, exotic syrup and a sprinkle of pistachios.
Our bill totaled under $40 and included an appetizer, tea for two, two entrees and two desserts.
