County Announces $436,500 in Grants for Improvements in 7 Municipalities

(Woodbury, NJ) – The Gloucester County Board of Freeholders has awarded seven municipalities with federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to complete community enhancement projects in their towns for 2012.

Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Heather Simmons announced that Clayton, Deptford, Glassboro, Mantua, Monroe, Washington Township and Woodbury Heights will receive a combined $436,582 in grants for 2012.  The awards were granted based on an application process with all municipalities in the County.

Freeholder Director Damminger said, “This federally funded program enables our towns to make necessary infrastructure improvements without impacting the taxpayers.   Without these grants, the projects would most likely be put on hold by the municipalities because they would not be able to afford to complete them. ”

“The funding that will be invested in improving our communities will bridge the financial gap between what a town needs and what improvements it can afford,” said Freeholder Heather Simmons, liaison to the Department of Economic Development.
