On Monday, February 27, 2012 at approximately 10:12 AM, numerous officers from the Gloucester Township Police Department responded to the CCVTS on Berlin-Cross Keys Road on a report of a student that was believed to be in possession of a handgun. Upon their arrival, officers determined that the location of the weapon was still unknown which necessitated the school being briefly placed in a Lockdown until the weapon was located.
Students were safely secured in their respective classrooms until Patrol Officers and Detectives from the Gloucester Township Police Department conducted an intense search and successfully located the weapon, which was determined to be an imitation firearm. Shortly after the imitation weapon was located, the Lockdown was lifted and the students resumed their normal class schedule.
As a result if this incident, three students under the age of 18 were arrested and formally charged with the following crimes/offenses: Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, False Public Alarm, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Obstruction of the Administration of Justice.
