New Mother Delivers Daughter In Bathtub | Gloucester City News

By Albert J. Countryman Jr.

A young mother had an exciting morning January 11, as she delivered her first child in the bathtub. Ashley Bell of Burlington Street in Gloucester City went into the bathroom early last Wednesday, and then realized the baby was coming, her aunt said.

Calmly, she called for the father and went into the bathtub.

“The parents delivered the baby before the ambulance got there,” the aunt said. “The umbilical cord was around the baby’s neck. Mom got it off and got here to breathe.”

At 7:49 a.m., Kaylee Ann Conner was born to Ashley Bell and Pat Conner. EMTs took Ashley and Kaylee to Cooper Hospital, where they stayed until last Friday.

“It is amazing. She had a baby girl, born in the bathtub,” the aunt saying, adding that Kaylee was born on the birthday of her great grandmother, Delores Sullivan.

Both Ashley and Kaylee are doing well, and the family is thrilled.
