(cnbnews.net)Gloucester City Board of Education held a special meeting Monday, January 30, to discuss moving the annual school election from April to the November General Election. The vote was 8-0-1 with Pat Hagan abstaining.
This was result of new recently past state law giving local authorities the choice to hold April elections or move to November.
The move could have been move by any one of the following.
1. By School BOE
2. By City Council
3. By petition of registered voters
SOME MAJOR CHANGES
As a result of the changee new Board of Education members elected in November will be installed in January.
Voters only get to vote on Budget if it exceeds 2% cap allowed by law.
