According to Gloucester City Police Lt. Brian Morrell at 1pm officers responded to the TD Bank, Broadway and Cumberland Street for a robbery.  Morrell said, “Employees advised the officers that a black or Hispanic male had passed a note demanding money, threatening to hurt employees if they did not comply.  The subject was given several thousand dollars by an employee before fleeing the area on foot."

“An investigation conducted by patrol officers, detectives, and the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office led to the identification of

the suspect just a few hours after the incident.  Benjamin Alford (29), last known address of Deptford Ave in Westville, was charged with 2nd degree Robbery.  Alford has not been located at this time."

BASKETBALL COACH CHARGED WITH DWI-Morrell was asked about an accident involving Gloucester City High School basketball coach Kevin Hagan. CNBNews had received several inquiries about Hagan allegedly being arrested on DWI charges Christmas day.

Morrell said, “December 25 at 0108 officers responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 400 block of Bergen Street.  On arrival they observed two parked vehicles and a third vehicle in the street all with extensive damage.  The driver of the third vehicle (Hagan) was outside attempting to push the vehicle off of the roadway.

“The subject was identified as Kevin Hagan (32) of the 800 block of Mercer Street.  Officers determined that Hagan was intoxicated and placed him under arrest.  He did provide breath samples at police headquarters subsequent to his arrest.  His blood alcohol content was .22%, above the legal limit of .08%. Hagan was charged with DWI and careless driving before being released.”

BRIDGE WORK TO BEGIN IN JANUARY-Construction work on the Brooklawn/Gloucester City Broadway bridge will begin in January weather permitting. Gloucester City Administrator Jack Lipsett said all work permits have been received and clearance has been given to the construction crews to begin the repairs. "I expect the work to begin the first week of January or there about."

Camden County received $1 million from the state to make the repairs.

Lipsett was asked when the repaving work of the 800 and 900 block of Monmouth Street will begin? “That wont start until April.”
