SHERIFF TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM CLASSES

 

 

Sheriff Encourages Residents To Take This First Step in Serving Their Community

 

The Burlington County Sheriff’s Department announced today that a new C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team) Basic Training Class will begin on January 10, 2012.  The class is eight sessions long and will be from 6:30 pm to 9 pm, ending on February 15, 2012. All classes will be held at the Emergency Services Training Center located at 53 Academy Drive in Westampton, New Jersey 08060.

 

The Schedule will be as follows:

Session 1 (Jan. 10)  CERT Overview & Disaster Preparedness (ESTC) 
Session 2 (Jan. 17)  Fire Safety (ESTC)
Session 3 (Jan. 19)  Light Search and Rescue Mt Laurel
 

Session 4 (Jan. 24)  Medical Operations (Part 1) ESTC 

Session 5 (Jan. 31)  Medical Operations (Part 2) (ESTC)

Session 6 (Feb. 7 Terrorism (ESTC)

Session 7 (Feb. 14)  Disaster Psychology

Session 8 (Feb. 15)  Disaster Simulation and GRADUATION - This class is held at the ESTC building training bay Westampton. NJ.

 

            Session 3 and 8 will involve minor physical requirements.  Session 4 and 5 will involve medical simulation and bandaging.  Part of Session 8 (fire extinguisher training) will be conducted outside.  Students are advised to dress accordingly for all the training sessions. 

 

Students must attend all classes to receive a graduation certificate.  If the student is unable to attend a class, make-up classes will be scheduled to meet graduation requirements. Students will be issued books on the first day of class that the student may keep.  Upon graduation the student will receive a certificate and a C.E.R.T. response bag. 

 

This course is the first step in service to the community.  This course will also help those individuals who want to become a C.A.R.T. (County Animal Response Team) member. 

 

The Sheriff’s Department will be offering additional courses to help build the residents skills so that they can safeguard themselves, their family and the community.
