Richard H. Davey, Retired Mantua Police Officer Succumbs to Cancer

Richard H. Davey, 70, of Laurel Lake lost his courageous battle with cancer and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011. Images-3

 Born in Haddon Heights, he was a resident of Laurel Lake the past 42 years. He was a former member of the Mantua Police Department; he worked for the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center and Seabrook Police, and retired after 27 years with the Sands Casino as a security officer. He was a founding member of the Laurel Lake Rescue Squad. Rich was an avid reader of the Philadelphia Daily News. He enjoyed watching “World News Tonight” and the History Channel, and never missed “60 Minutes.” He enjoyed landscaping and working in his yard.

Davey and her husband Abdessamad Hdija of Casablanca, Morocco, Christine Davey-Wilford and her husband Talc of Dividing Creek, and Lisa Davey and her companion Ernie Esposito of Port Norris; grandchildren, Sara Rose Hdija, Anissa Lina Hdija, Jessaca Rose Wilford, Crystal Elizabeth Wilford, Chasady Lewise Wilford, Ashley Rose Selover, Lauren Kathleen Stiles and Lawrence Richard Stiles; and great-grandchildren, Isaiah Anthony Selover and Dante Joseph Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Pancoast Funeral Home 676 S. Main Road, Vineland. Interment will be in Haleyville Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday.
