The Glassboro Fire Department extinguished the fire with dry chemicals and found the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Damage to the building was confined to one room and other rooms have been reoccupied. The deceased man, an intermittent resident of the motel, was identified as Walter White (DOB 3/3/59) who has had a number of addresses. An autopsy by the Gloucester County Medical Examiner's Office is scheduled for Monday (12/26).

An investigation into the cause of the fire, by the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office, the county Fire Marshal's Office and the Glassboro fire investigation unit, is continuing. However, evidence of smoking was found in the room.
